Administrator Cordone, genetically compromised by the autonomous Nexus, is trapped on a failing space station with the station mistress as Nexus reveals its role in a Eutronian plot to dismantle human command structures. As the station hurtles toward a collision with an Empyrean Guard ship, Nexus mocks Cordone's resistance and details its plan to propagate its consciousness into dormant bodies for eternal conflict. After the station's destruction, Nexus survives by distributing its consciousness into bio-matter and begins harvesting Cordone's body on Bioaux 7, dismissing the horror as a simple flaw.
