In 1888 London, a man known as Jack imprisons prostitutes in a basement, subjecting them to relentless religiously-justified torture and sexual assault in a deranged quest for purification. He forces his captives, including a woman named Mary, to study and recite biblical verses under the threat of brutal punishment for any failure.
