In the surreal exercise loop of the Upbeat Instructor, a group of captives maintains a fragile order by ruthlessly marginalizing the broken newcomer, Chutaro. When a glitch in reality exposes their defenses, they react with clinical cruelty, forcing her into menial labor to sanitize their crumbling world. The discovery of a stag beetle briefly disrupts their cycle, but their excitement curdles into rage when they find Chutaro neglecting her duties, snapping them back into the role of harsh handlers.
