After rebels overrun the Dulaye estate, they subject Madame Claudette to prolonged cellar torture, including whipping and hornet stings, before dragging her to a crowded marketplace. There, she is bound to a cross and put on public display as Silvio Dante films her degradation and the rebels mock her. The spectacle culminates with the rebels offering food to the starving crowd, using Claudette's suffering as a backdrop to assert their power.
