Alexa is on the Gallows (Cruel World)

A young prisoner named Alexa is alone in her cell when a prison guard visits her. Hoping for good news, she asks if she can finally be released. The guard coldly informs her that her pardon request has been rejected and she has been sentenced to death. Alexa is shocked and desperate. She begs the guard, reminding him that he had previously promised to help her. The guard remains indifferent and begins preparing her for execution. He ties her hands tightly behind her back, places a noose around her neck, and taunts her with dark humor while she pleads and cries. He offers her a last cigarette, which she refuses in panic. The guard then leaves her standing restrained and noosed, telling her he’ll be back soon, while Alexa remains trapped in terror, down to her fate.
