In 1482 Paris, the thief Sabrina is sentenced to death after a rigged trial. Despite her pleas, Bishop William ignores her as executioners, including Philip and young Sanson, hang her at Notre-Dame, with Sanson later breaking her neck by landing on her shoulders. After her body decays on the gallows, authorities remove her remains to a pauper's grave, and she is forgotten by the public while Quasimodo still remembers Esmeralda.
